A major consumer advocacy organization, Public
Citizen, has come out strongly against FDA-approval of the drug Uprima.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal,
the group is seriously concerned about safety of the new product, including
blood pressure effects. Public Citizen is the group founded by Ralph Nader.
An FDA decision on Uprima is expected before July 1, 2000.
